Week 85 - Giving Blessings

Image
Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a great week and that all is well in your lives! This week was another great week for Elder Banthoud and I. We work really well together and we have a great time! Here are a few highlights from this week! Last Monday night we went and gave a blessing at the hospital to a woman who was in a coma.  They thought she was going to die because of how bad her condition was. On Wednesday we went to see how she was doing and she was awake and could talk with us! She is doing great now. I really saw the miracles that can happen with the power and authority of the priesthood! Two of our investigators passed their interveiws this week so we will be having two baptisms this week. It is always exciting to have baptisms! I am starting to lose a little bit of weight. REALLY excited about that! I didn't fall this week on my bike! I studied hard core in the Bible with Elder Banthoud! I hope you all have a great week! Stay safe and I hope you all enjoy w...

Iaorana tatou! I hope that you all had a great week! This week went by really fast for Elder Banthoud and I! We are continuing to see miracles each and every day! I love my mission and I love serving the Lord! I would not trade all of my experiences I am having for anything! It has been the best thing I could possibly do in my life! I hope that everyone can one day serve a mission! Elder Banthoud and me writing home This week we ate with a family and we ate pretty French. Instead of the typical Tahitian raw fish, we had SNAILS, mussels and calf meat! Apparently, it is very popular in France! For those of you who knew me before the mission, I would have never touched those things, but I ate it all and it was actually really good! I loved the mussels! I don't know if we really eat that in America but I will try and eat that when I get home! This mission has been full of great experiences! So I heard from a member that the Rams made it to the Super Bowl! I hope that you will ...

Week 83 - Miracles Exist!

Hello Everyone! I hope that you all had a great week and that this new year is treating you well! This week was a good week! Elder Banthoud and I saw many miracles this week! There are a few I would like to share with you guys! This week we were doing a little bit of contacting and we were at a house and an old Tahitian lady walks out of the house and starts speaking in only Tahitian. I was scared at the beginning because the Tahitian language is pretty hard and not a ton of people speak it! My companion just looks at me because he didn't understand anything and then I realized that I was understanding everything that she was saying to us! She invited us in and we gave her a blessing and taught her a lesson. ALL of it in Tahitian! And the end she was crying because she was so grateful that we spoke in Tahitian with her. I still don't know how I was able to talk or understand but I did it and it was a miracle! Another miracle we saw this week was with an old investigato...

Week 82 - Life in the Big City!

Bonjour tout le monde! I hope that you all had a great week and started off the New Year well! I am in my new area and I love it! It is a lot different then my last but I love my new companion! He is from France and we are literally the same person! It makes such a difference in the missionary work when you get along with your companion! The work goes so much smoother and it is a lot more fun! I love it! Like I said last week, I am in the city part of Tahiti, it is different, and there are a ton of people, but I like it! I will admit it is not the best being back on the bike again. I guess the workout is good! Elder Banthoud and I got some champagne this week for the New Year! Bien sur without alcohol! LOL Elder Banthoud and me This week we gave 13 blessings. It is crazy how often we go to the hospital to give blessings! During the week we went and blessed one of our investigators. He was having a lot of pain in his shoulder and lost feeling in his arm and couldn't really ...

I am also excited for this opportunity to serve with a native French speaker to really perfect my French. But, sadly after 9 months, I am back on a bike. It will for sure help me to get back into shape! Saying goodbye to all of these special families in Papeari! I really loved the ward I served in. I am going to miss them and the investigators we taught. But I am excited for the change! I love seeing what the Lord has prepared for me! My new area covers the hospital on Tahiti, so pretty much eve...

Week 80 - Joyeux Noel

Image
Joyeux Noel!! I hope you all are having a very Merry Christmas! This week was a pretty great week! We had our leadership meeting and that was good. I always enjoy them and the Spirit that it brings! We talked a lot about the importance of learning the Tahitian language. Heare maru haere papu! I'm getting there! We also had our Mission Christmas party this week. It was so great seeing all the other missionaries! I always love seeing my friends there. I am so grateful for the friends I have made on my mission! Each zone had to prepare a skit for the Christmas party and our theme was Mary. So we had a Sister missionary sing "Marry Did You Know?" and then we did shadow puppets to act out the song! It was pretty creative! My zone This past weekend we had a baptism. His name is Jean. We started teaching him when I got to this area and he has changed so much! It is so amazing to see what the gospel can do to so many peoples lives! I had the privilege of baptizing him....

Week 79 - The Atonement

Hello, Bonjour, Iaorana! I hope you all had a great week this past week, and I'm sure you are all getting ready for Christmas. It is really weird here because Christmas is not the same. It is the hot season and there are no Christmas lights! But I am excited for Skype next week! This week we had a multi zone conference and it was really good! We talked a lot about Jesus Christ, since it is Christmas season we need to remember Him. We also talked about His Atonement. I am grateful for Jesus Christ and His Atonement. I know that it is through His Atonement that we can receive a forgiveness of our sins and that we can live with God again! Me and Elder Kerr We had our ward Christmas party this week, it was awesome and really traditional. We had dancing and a lot of great food. I love the ward I am serving in right now. I have a ton of friends and the members are so great!  Primary Tahitian Christmas Program  Eating hot peppers with my zone I hope you all have...
