Week 80 - Joyeux Noel

Joyeux Noel!!

I hope you all are having a very Merry Christmas!

This week was a pretty great week! We had our leadership meeting and that was good. I always enjoy them and the Spirit that it brings! We talked a lot about the importance of learning the Tahitian language. Heare maru haere papu! I'm getting there!

We also had our Mission Christmas party this week. It was so great seeing all the other missionaries! I always love seeing my friends there. I am so grateful for the friends I have made on my mission! Each zone had to prepare a skit for the Christmas party and our theme was Mary. So we had a Sister missionary sing "Marry Did You Know?" and then we did shadow puppets to act out the song! It was pretty creative!

This past weekend we had a baptism. His name is Jean. We started teaching him when I got to this area and he has changed so much! It is so amazing to see what the gospel can do to so many peoples lives! I had the privilege of baptizing him. I am so happy for him and his decision to be baptized.

 If you look how wet I am after he got baptized it is because it took us 3 times. Jean doesn't like the water so the first time I tryed to like force him down and that didn't work, then the second time he pulled me down with him.... lol and then the third time we got it!

I also dressed up as Santa this week to go visit the missionaries in our zone. I cut my pillow in half to make a beard! It was pretty awesom and luckily my mom sent me with an extra pillow! I am hoping it brought the Christmas spirit for the missionaries!

I am exctied to skype home for Christmas. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! I love you all!

Bonjour tout le monde! I hope that you all had a great week and started off the New Year well! I am in my new area and I love it! It is a lot different then my last but I love my new companion! He is from France and we are literally the same person! It makes such a difference in the missionary work when you get along with your companion! The work goes so much smoother and it is a lot more fun! I love it! Like I said last week, I am in the city part of Tahiti, it is different, and there are a ton of people, but I like it! I will admit it is not the best being back on the bike again. I guess the workout is good! Elder Banthoud and I got some champagne this week for the New Year! Bien sur without alcohol! Week 23, 24, 25, 26 - I AM STILL ALIVE!!

I AM STILL ALIVE!! I apologize for no updates this past month! The internet on this little tiny island that I am on wasn't working, so I haven't been able to talk to ANYONE! But I am alive and well!! So much has happened this last month. One of our recent converts here just got married a few weeks ago and we were able to go the wedding! It was so much fun and we were able to eat a ton of weird foods. So, we were about to start eating and this person brings out this huge plate that is covered up and sets it right in the middle of the table. Then they proceeded to uncover this plate and BAM it is a cow head!! They just cooked a cow head for the center piece! And we literally just grabbed meat off the skull of this cow head with our hands and ate it! The craziest part is, it wasn't even that bad! Also, here on this tiny little island there are a TON of wild dogs, and they don't like the missionaries! So for our protection we decided it would be best to buy machetes! No

Week 22 - Tubuai

Hello Everyone! Tubuai is the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life! So I got to Tubuai and the missionary work here is kind of at a stand still. Before I left for Tubuai the Mission President gave me a call and we talked and he told me that he needed me to get out there and get the ball moving again, and said he had faith that I could do it. So I got out here and we got straight to work. Rebuilding the relationship with the members, tons of service projects, a lot of activities at the church and just talking to every single person we see! And WOW, the missionary work is now moving! The members love my companion, Elder Harrison, and I, and we have been getting so many different referrals. I have a strong belief that members and missionary work go hand in hand. It is very important to have that support from the members! So out here in Tubuai everyone has a ton of land and there are a ton of farms! They grow a lot of their own food since there isn't a lot out here. T
