Week 3 - New Mission President
Bonjour!
This was such a good week here at the MTC! I absolutely love it here. Both of the Tahitian Districts are full of amazing people and I am so lucky to be around them. Our district is growing so close and everyone seems to get along great.
I have found a love for reading my scriptures while I have been here at the MTC. Every second of free time I find myself reading the scriptures. It is so awesome to be able to read the scriptures and understand everything that is going on. Last Saturday, I sat down and read all of 2 Nephi in one sitting!
This week was the Mission President training here at the MTC so all of the Apostles came to teach the missions presidents. On Tuesday night Elder Bednar came and spoke to all of us. It was amazing. Not to mention 10 of the 12 Apostles were sitting on the stand! It was such a powerful devotional. Then after the devotional on Tuesday night, we were lucky enough to meet our new Mission President, President Fox. President and Sister Fox seem like such great people and I am so excited to be able to be a missionary under them!
The language is starting to get better and better. Last night (Thursday night) my companion and I had to teach a lesson to our investigator. We decided to teach about the Restoration. I was able to teach the entire lesson in French without using any notes and the lesson went for 45 minutes! I am so proud of myself. It grows my faith that I know the Gift of Tongues is a real thing.
On Wednesday, we got a new shipment of missionaries here at the MTC and I had the opportunity to be an escort for them. It was such a great experience and brought back memories to my first day in the MTC, which seems like it was yesterday. Time really does fly by! But anyways, I was able to show the missionaries around the MTC and show them where their room and classroom were.
This morning I had the opportunity to go to the Provo Temple with my zone and it was awesome. And even better I got to see my Aunt Kori! And even better than that, she brought me TONS of food!!!
The food is still great here. It is so good that I need to stop eating so much or I am going to start gaining weight. For those of you who didn't know, before my mission I was such a picky eater and now I find myself eating everything! I don't know if it is because I am hungry or I am actually growing up.
So today I needed to get a haircut and there is a free barber shop here at the MTC. So logically as a missionary here at the MTC I would go to the barber shop and get a haircut. BUT, an Elder in my room brought hair cutting materials so being the person I am I had an Elder in my district cut my hair in our room. And he actually did a good job!
Each week our district meets we set goals for the week. This week one of our goals was to read Alma 42 individually and later in the week we would come together and discuss the chapter. When we came together to discuss we had such a powerful discussion. It was probably the most I have felt the spirit since I have been here. And I feel the spirit so strongly as it is. It has been one of my favorite memories of the MTC so far.
