Week 1 - Mission Training Center

Bonjour!

So it's been my first few days in the MTC and I am loving every part of it. The spirit is so strong here and I feel like I constantly have the Holy Ghost by my side. I had my first language class today and I actually remembered a lot of French and was able to understand my teacher.

My companion is Elder Hedges. He is from Utah and is into theater and music. He has a big heart and we are doing well together despite our differences.

Exciting news, I was called to be a District Leader, so that is pretty awesome. There are 20 new Tahitian Missionaries and I am in charge of 10 of them!

I am so happy here and I can feel my testimony of the scriptures growing. I have personal study time every day so I have been reading my scriptures, studying Preach My Gospel, and studying our language textbooks.

The food here at the MTC actually isn't that bad. I have eaten every meal so I can't complain. Tonight I have to teach a lesson to an investigator and it is all in French. So that should be interesting.

This morning I was able to go to the Provo Temple and do an endowment session and it was beautiful. I felt so comfortable in the Temple since I have been serving there for the last few months before my mission.

Even though it will be a long 9 weeks in the MTC, I am very happy here and I can feel the love from God.

Scripture of the week that I invite all of you to read is 2 Nephi 31:21.

Bonjour tout le monde! I hope that you all had a great week and started off the New Year well! I am in my new area and I love it! It is a lot different then my last but I love my new companion! He is from France and we are literally the same person! It makes such a difference in the missionary work when you get along with your companion! The work goes so much smoother and it is a lot more fun! I love it! Like I said last week, I am in the city part of Tahiti, it is different, and there are a ton of people, but I like it! I will admit it is not the best being back on the bike again. I guess the workout is good! Elder Banthoud and I got some champagne this week for the New Year! Bien sur without alcohol! Week 23, 24, 25, 26 - I AM STILL ALIVE!!

I AM STILL ALIVE!! I apologize for no updates this past month! The internet on this little tiny island that I am on wasn't working, so I haven't been able to talk to ANYONE! But I am alive and well!! So much has happened this last month. One of our recent converts here just got married a few weeks ago and we were able to go the wedding! It was so much fun and we were able to eat a ton of weird foods. So, we were about to start eating and this person brings out this huge plate that is covered up and sets it right in the middle of the table. Then they proceeded to uncover this plate and BAM it is a cow head!! They just cooked a cow head for the center piece! And we literally just grabbed meat off the skull of this cow head with our hands and ate it! The craziest part is, it wasn't even that bad! Also, here on this tiny little island there are a TON of wild dogs, and they don't like the missionaries! So for our protection we decided it would be best to buy machetes! No

Week 28 & 29 - Miracles Really Do Happen!!

This week was a week full of miracles! I don't even know which miracle to start with. So we have this investigator named William. He took the missionary lessons about 2 years ago but then he stopped. Then 3 weeks ago he showed up at church with his family, so of course we went over and talked to him and introduced ourselves. One thing leads to another and we are talking about his experience with the missionaries and wondering why he didn't get baptized. My companion, Elder Harrison, asked him why he hasn't been baptized yet and he answered and said it is because him and his wife are not yet married. So then I asked why they weren't married. He replies and says that his wife doesn't want to get married yet, then in the background she comes up and says no they aren't married because he doesn't want to get married. So it was a total misunderstanding between the two of them! So then I was like, ok well why don't you get married? And then Elder Harrison says,
